ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
Forty men, in eight teams of approximately five men each, went through the “Fruit That Won’t Spoil” book. Each team spent 7-8 weeks in interactive discussion for about two hours each week, learning the seventy or more “intangibles” principles for how to make “disciplemakers.”
Many thanks to these men who comprised the test groups that walked through these intangible studies and showed where more clarity, illustrations with examples, and more work was needed.
These men finished “The Intangibles” training and, with the guidance of the indwelling Holy Spirit, recruited a “Timothy” to begin meeting with; some even started before the training was finished. As I write this, there are 40 “Pauls” and 40 new men meeting as their “Timothys.”
So I want to say “thank you” very much for the test group, and most of all I am grateful for the Lord Jesus Christ, who continues to teach and train each of us to follow Him with a whole heart.
My many thanks also go to Bob Tamasy, Len Allen and Rodger Piersant for their gracious help in starting with something good and working with the content to make it special.
The Author Roger Erickson
This book is about making DISCIPLEMAKERS!
Disciplemakers … those men with a desire to impact eternity by allowing God to use them in His desire to build generations of disciplemakers.
This book is best understood and applied in our lives if it is interactive. Therefore it is designed to follow a discussion format with 4-6 people at a time.
Benjamin Franklin was right! He said:
“Tell me … I forget.
Teach me … I remember.
Involve me … I learn.” –
-Benjamin Franklin
So as we begin this study, the focus is on involvement – involving participants through interactive discussion, not just the transfer of information. In the process, we will learn together.
This book is designed with that in mind; it works extremely well for the crystallizing of thoughts and internalizing concepts about more than 70 “Intangibles” – how-to’s for effectively making disciples.
“With the Intangibles of making disciplemakers, the fear of the new is overcome because of the completeness and simplicity in answering the unasked questions that all of us have.”
